it’s winter in this room and i’m a collapsed sheet of skating rink ice spitting frostbite into your toes so you’ll breathe an ounce of life back into my veins. i know you’ve got it. i gave it to you beneath the sycamore tree with my midnight snack stockings pooled at the ankles, your denim blue sky jeans coughing up friction all over me. we’re a last few weeks of summer catastrophe while the first snow was in daylight but i loved you, i loved cheap dye in your hair and alcoholics tears on my fingertips after drunk telephone dials crept into the folds of every ripe sunrise sweeter than peach lips pressed to cologne collarbones. and i guess letting you breathe into my veins made you steal it away instead. it’s like watching the placid moon drink the lake water, bending and falling into the subtle ripples; do you remember seeing only the shadows floating in the misty winter nigts? loving you came with a demanding price tag that kept screaming, “surrender. surrender, and bleed” and the marble stone floor of the empty office buildings was the only thing that greeted me when i found colored lakes instead of the silouehetted reveries.
i kept finding puppeted lips and hallow kisses while my eyes saw carefully clothed lips and rippened cheeks.
so let’s say goodbye to your firm cut shoulder blades and blush dust knuckles that i can’t seem to forget because of inky photographs bleeding the toxins that kept me on edge waiting to find a yesterday with your smile written in bold neon lights, your sadistic smirk still stained on the eggshell white pillowcase beneath my head, beneath my dreams of bubblegum pink skies where we are an evening that never has to wake again because the stars are going out now; the velveted skies are rough with dry skins and sulking eye lids and gaping breach between my ribcage and yours. look into the skeleton in my eyes, and know that you bled the blues from the edges of your azure trench coat into me while i watched you close the door behind you.
